The transition from summer to winter sports began today at Dwyer Arena with the first optional skate for the 2024-25 Bantam Major Bruins.
Head Coach Craig Newell set the tone early for those in attendance, emphasizing pace and precision to knock the rust off. It's also the first look at familiar faces in new places on the ice.
While both RJ Turner and Cody Schoen return to the Bruins from last years squad, Schoen is making a move back to the blue paint as half of the tandem with Turner. Schoen is no stranger to the crease having begun his hockey career there, however he is leaving a hole on offense without his strong net-front presence.
Several returning Bruins look to improve on strong seasons to pick up Schoen's production - as will new acquisition AJ McCune, who brings great speed and hockey IQ to what should be a balanced Bruins attack.
