Benny Lazzaro opened the scoring early on a rebound in front, and Cody Schoen stopped all 18 shots as the Power City Bruins defeated the Buffalo Regals, 3-0 at Hyde Park Ice Pavillion in Niagara Falls, NY.
AJ McCune scored his 11th of the season for the Bruins, and Hayden Hockaday added his team leading 19th goal. McCune also added an assist as did Jack Boddecker, Derrek Wolski, and Chase Newell.
The offensive zone time heavily favored the Bruins, as did the shot totals. Power City outshot the Regals in every period en route to a 32-18 advantage in the game. Hayden led the way with six attempts, while Lazzaro, McCune, and Aiden Loncar had five each.
On the defensive end the Bruins kept the majority of chances outside and in low danger areas. Schoen had to make a few big saves half way through the third as the Regals gave a big push looking to get back in the game. Beyond that this was another strong effort in front of the goaltender. Jake Nobel played a strong game positionally, stopping several Regals rushes in the neutral zone before they could get started.
The Bruins are back at it tomorrow night, taking on West Seneca Blue on the road at the Depew Ice Pavillion with puck drop at 7:30pm.
