Hayden Hockaday scored his second hat trick in four games to lead the Power City Bruins past Canton 2010 Blue in the final qualifying game of the Silverstick Regional, 5-2.  Joey Kinder and Brody Hockaday added a goal each, and AJ McCune had two assists.  Goaltender Cody Schoen stopped 16 shots to earn his second tournament victory.

The Bruins had an opportunity to bring home the banner against the Grand Rapids Blades, a team they beat 5-0 to open the tournament.  However this was a very different game with wild swings in favor of each team.

Power City fell behind 2-0 before roaring back behind goals by Brody Hockaday, Kamden Proper and Jack Boddecker.  However it was not enough as the overtime winner went to the Blades as they defeated the Bruins, 4-3.

A short handed goal for the Blades tied the physical affair in the third.  Power City had their opportunities to strike back, however the power play finished 1 for 8.  The penalty kill allowed one goal on six attempts.

Vance Graham added an assist in the championship game.  The Bruins were out shot, 32-26 and it could have been more if not for a high volume of blocked shots for both teams.  The Bruins blocked nine shots in the final.

Perhaps a positive for Power City is they don't have time to dwell on the result.  The Bruins are back on the ice Tuesday evening at Hyde Park Ice Pavillion for practice before a stretch of three games in three days.  Thursday night Power City hosts the Buffalo Regals at 6pm, travels to West Seneca Blue on Friday night before coming home Saturday for a 2:30pm tilt against the Webster Cyclones.

This will be the first meeting of the season between the Bruins and Regals, while both Webster and Power City look to improve on a 1-1 tie from their opening match.
