Power City Bruins parents may have received holiday miracles that none of them had a medical event watching the boys and the last six minutes against the Rochester Jr. Americans.
Power City jumped out to a 5-1 lead with a balanced scoring attack, then hung on through a frantic finish to defeat the Amerks, 5-4 at Tim Horton's Iceplex in Rochester, NY.
Carter Winiarski led the way with a goal and an assist, while Aiden Locar, Brody Hockaday, Hayden Hockaday, and Kamden Proper all scored for the Bruins. Loncar buried a highlight goals spinning off a defender below the goal line, then cutting towards the front before banking a shot in off the goaltender from just behind the line. Proper's goal was a short-handed breakaway which served as the game winner.
Adding assists for the Bruins were Jake Nobel, AJ McCune, Jack Boddecker, and Chase Newell. Newell also led the physical effort with six hits and was strong on the walls throughout the game. Goaltender Cody Schoen earned the victory for the Bruins, turning aside 32 of 36 Rochester shots.
The Bruins forwards got involved defensively as Joey Kinder, and both Brody and Hayden Hockaday all had three blocks each to lead the team. Nobel also added two blocks to his game.
Power City is now off from game action through the holidays. After a few practices the Bruins will next takes game ice on the road, January 5th at 9am against East Aurora at the East Aurora Classic Rink.
