Joey Kinder broke a tie game late in the first half, and the Bruins followed with a tremendous defensive team effort earning a 3-1 victory over West Haven AA in the Haunted Shootout.
Cody Schoen opened the scoring for the Bruins, and AJ McCune put the game on ice with an empty net goal with one second remaining.
The Bruins doubled up West Haven in shots on goal, 28-14, with Hayden Hockaday leading the way with 6 attempts. Hockaday and Jack Boddecker got on the score sheet with assists, and the team killed their only penalty taken.
RJ Turner stopped 14 of 15 to earn the win - the Bruins nearly blocked as many as Turner did. Collectively, the Bruins blocked 13 total shots with Dario Savard leading the way with 4. Kamden Proper, Benny Lazzaro, and Boddecker had two blocks each.
A scary moment for the Bruins came nearly three minutes in as Lazzaro closed out on a point shot and was down on the ice for a few minutes with what appeared to be a lower body injury. Lazzaro did miss a few shifts but did return to the game and appeared to be full speed.
The Bruins return to the New England Sports Center at 8pm to face the Devlis 14U Premier squad with a chance to end pool play undefeated!
