The Power City Bruins Bantam Major squad has played but two games this young season.  It is far too small a sample size to determine any trends from.  That said, there are a few numbers jumping off the score sheet - some encouraging, others the next few practice skates should help turn around.

FIRST PERIOD:  The coaching staff should be pleased how the boys are giving up the body for each other.  The team has a combined 43 hits and 11 blocks through two games.  More encouraging is the mix - 5 of the 11 blocks are coming from forwards, as are 29 of the hits.

The Bruins struggled with consistency throughout most of last season as forward lines were juggled due to multiple injuries and absences.  Despite not being full strength again through the first two games, the forwards collectively aren't allowing last season to repeat.

SECOND PERIOD:  With a few new players and lines, it may take time for the team to generate a consistent offensive identity.  Right now, Power City is averaging just over 23 shots per game.  Coaches continue to work on creating high danger chances which take advantage of the teams' physicality.  Game to game progress is evident, and more offense should be expected from those efforts.

THIRD PERIOD:  If you would have told me, at any point in the season, forwards AJ McCune and Hayden Hockaday would combine for 20 shots on goal in two games and have but one goal to show for it, I would have laughed at you harder than I did when EBUG David Ayers beat the Maple Leafs a few years ago.

But that's exactly where the Bruins are.  McCune and Hockaday have been all around the net with opportunities but the puck is not going in for them right now.  If opponents continue giving up opportunities like this, you can expect both players to rocket towards the team lead in goals and points.  This simply won't continue, and the Bruins will be winning games once the breakthrough comes.
