Carter Winiarski scored his 14th and 15th goals on the year, and Nick Sobczyk had the break through many saw coming with his first of the year and an assist as the Power City Bruins defeated the Cheektowaga Warriors, 4-0 under the night sky at Buffalo Riverworks on Wednesday.
Aiden Loncar added a goal crashing the net after Sobczyk won a puck battle in front off a shot from Vance Graham. AJ McCune added two assists and Cody Schoen stopped all 27 Warriors shots, include 14 in the final period with several coming from in close.
Both Sobczyk and Chase Newell were strong on the forecheck all game for the Bruins, while both Jack Boddecker and Jake Nobel turned away several would-be rushes from the Warriors active defensive sticks.
Brody Hockaday led the physicality with six hits, and Derrek Wolski led with two blocks and chipped in two hits as well. Sobczyk and Hayden Hockaday each led Power City with four shots on goal each.
Power City next takes the ice at Hyde Park Ice Pavillion Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm against the Amherst Knights.
