Sometimes in tournaments you run into a team that doesn't make sense in your division and need to put forward your best effort anyway. Such was the case Friday night at Hyde Park Ice Pavillion as the Clarington Toros defeated the Power City Bruins, 9-0.
RJ Turner stopped a season high 46 shots in a valiant effort. AJ McCune, Carter Winiarski and Vance Graham each had two shots for the Bruins. Brody Hockaday led the physical effort with six hits, and Dario Savard blocked four shots.
The Bruins appeared to leave the game healthy after a pair of injury scares. McCune took a hard check in the first period and remained down for a few minutes before ultimately leaving the ice under his own power (upper body). Savard's third block of the game sent him to the ice quickly, however he also left the ice under his own power after a few minutes (lower body).
The Bruins wrap pool play Saturday night at Hyde Park Ice Pavillion as they take on the Cheektowaga Warriors at 8:30pm.
